A community that promotes health and wellness through a coordinated system of care.
This short film explains the financial and social impacts Community Health Workers have made in our community. We also share some of our history, as well as personal stories from staff and clients who have used the resources provided by The Wellness Coalition.
We provide health care access services primarily to the River Region’s non-elderly adults who have chronic diseases (diabetes, heart disease, asthma, obesity and others) and no health insurance—an estimated 45,622 individuals (2010 census). We also provide, through service contracts with local agencies, services for persons of other ages, such as elderly and children or those who are underinsured; and we provide community health and wellness interventions in other venues such as churches and community agencies.
