DESCRIPTION:The Wellness Coalition Trailblazers Task Force committee is a part of Champions for Change\, and seeks to assess and address community design to provide more opportunities for safe physical activity for residents. The committee will work to educate\, promote\, improve\, and make available safe and accessible streets\, bicycle lanes\, sidewalks\, transportation\, parks\, and trails\, land\, and schools for families and individuals to be physically active. This will be accomplished by: \n\nUsing the CDC Active Community Tool to assess community plans\, policies\, and resources for improving built environments for physical activity\nPromoting the benefits of being more physically active throughout everyday activities\nEducating and informing others about the importance of having equitable access to safe and accessible infrastructure\nIdentifying opportunities to improve infrastructure in rural areas\nPartnering with organizations that can partner with the committee to enhance community design at specific locations\n\nTrailblazers Task Force Committee members will:  \n\nServe as a public forum for discussion on issues on activity friendly routes and everyday destinations\nHelp asses the needs of community infrastructure for safe\, clean\, and accessible routes and destinations\nIdentify and address concerns and issues on infrastructure and how they affect the community and stakeholders\nAct as liaison between public and private sectors\nBuild relationships with organizations and stakeholders that manage and are responsible for infrastructure\nPromote and provide ideas to increase education and knowledge on the importance of not only being physically active but also caring for the infrastructure and improvements that are provided\nGive a voice to often marginalized community members affected by lack of access to activity-friendly routes and everyday destinations\nPlay an active role in educating policymakers and the public on the importance of providing maintenance safety to activity-friendly routes and everyday destinations\n\nExamples of activity friendly routes: \n\nStreet design\nInfrastructure to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists\nPublic transportation\n\nExamples of everyday destinations: \n\nLand use planning\nParks and recreational facilities\nSchools\n\nSign Up for the Trailblazers Task Force\n\n  \nAlready a member?
