Trusted Messengers work to provide our community with access to accurate and updated information on the COVID-19 vaccine\, influenza\, routine vaccines\, and the process of acquiring vaccines. \nThe Trusted Messengers committee will consist of community health workers\, local leaders\, and community members who will receive training in the dissemination of accurate and up-to-date information on the benefits of receiving adult vaccinations\, including those for COVID-19\, influenza\, and routine vaccines. DESCRIPTION:The mission of The Wellness Coalition’s Champions For Change is to speak up for healthy changes in the communities of Autauga\, Lowndes\, Macon\, and Montgomery. Champions for Change is comprised of members of these four committees:. \n\nHealthy Voices Committee\nMilk Haven Committee\nTrailblazers Task Force\nTrusted Messengers\n\nInformation and outcomes for these four committee meetings will be shared at the Champions for Change meeting\, and vice versa. \nChampions will: \n\nBe a voice for change in the community.\nIdentify areas and obstacles that are in the way of change.\nBuild through networking and collaboration to create and enhance policies\, systems\, and environmental changes.\nAssist the Wellness Coalition REACH program on how we can make changes for a healthier community\nInspire others to make healthy changes\nSpeak up for safer places to be active in the outdoors\nInform leaders and decision-makers about health issues facing the community\nAssist with promoting healthy nutrition promotion\, physical activity promotion and access\, breastfeeding promotion\, and access to adult vaccination uptake\nHelp with upcoming event planning\nAttend at least 2 events (e.g.\, vaccination clinics\, “A Tour of Wellness” health fairs\, Baby Cafés\, Breastfeeding Summit\, Adult Vaccination webinars\, etc.)\nShare updates and event information in their community circles\nAttend quarterly meetings to discuss updates and events and provide feedback\nAre encouraged to recruit additional messengers\n\nSign Up to be a Champion for Change\n  \nAlready a member? SUMMARY:Milk Haven Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Wellness Coalition Milk Haven Committee is a part of Champions for Change\, and seeks to provide safe spaces for breastfeeding mothers and to make connections between breastfeeding professions\, including lactation support staff (IBCLC\, CLS\, CBS\, CLC\, CLE)\, OB/GYNs\, nurses\, midwives\, doulas\, community program (staff/leaders)\, family educators and others. The committee will also work to establish breastfeeding-friendly status for hospitals and providers. Means to accomplish these objectives include: \n\nPromoting\, through committee members\, education and information about developing lactation spaces in work environments and others\nPromoting the importance of breastfeeding support through healthcare providers and community leaders\nProviding training on the benefits of breastfeeding for mother and baby\nIdentifying organizations that can work with the committee to accomplish specific goals\nAnd more\n\nMilk Haven Committee members will:  \n\nServe as a public forum for discussion on breastfeeding issues\nAssess local opportunities to establish lactation spaces\nIdentify and address gaps that affect breastfeeding success\nAct as liaison between public and private sectors\nBuild relationships with locations where breastfeeding families visit and address obstacles that prevent breastfeeding families from having a successful breastfeeding experience\nPromote and make the Baby Cafés sustainable and available to all families\nProvide a voice to often marginalized stakeholders\, including\, working mothers or families affected by a lack of access to clean and safe spaces to breastfeed\nPlay an active role in educating policymakers and the public on the challenges and barriers breastfeeding families face\, as well as ways we can overcome those barriers\n\nSign Up for Milk Haven\n  \nAlready a member? DESCRIPTION:The Wellness Coalition Trailblazers Task Force committee is a part of Champions for Change\, and seeks to assess and address community design to provide more opportunities for safe physical activity for residents. The committee will work to educate\, promote\, improve\, and make available safe and accessible streets\, bicycle lanes\, sidewalks\, transportation\, parks\, and trails\, land\, and schools for families and individuals to be physically active. This will be accomplished by: \n\nUsing the CDC Active Community Tool to assess community plans\, policies\, and resources for improving built environments for physical activity\nPromoting the benefits of being more physically active throughout everyday activities\nEducating and informing others about the importance of having equitable access to safe and accessible infrastructure\nIdentifying opportunities to improve infrastructure in rural areas\nPartnering with organizations that can partner with the committee to enhance community design at specific locations\n\nTrailblazers Task Force Committee members will:  \n\nServe as a public forum for discussion on issues on activity friendly routes and everyday destinations\nHelp asses the needs of community infrastructure for safe\, clean\, and accessible routes and destinations\nIdentify and address concerns and issues on infrastructure and how they affect the community and stakeholders\nAct as liaison between public and private sectors\nBuild relationships with organizations and stakeholders that manage and are responsible for infrastructure\nPromote and provide ideas to increase education and knowledge on the importance of not only being physically active but also caring for the infrastructure and improvements that are provided\nGive a voice to often marginalized community members affected by lack of access to activity-friendly routes and everyday destinations\nPlay an active role in educating policymakers and the public on the importance of providing maintenance safety to activity-friendly routes and everyday destinations\n\nExamples of activity friendly routes: \n\nStreet design\nInfrastructure to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists\nPublic transportation\n\nExamples of everyday destinations: \n\nLand use planning\nParks and recreational facilities\nSchools\n\nSign Up for the Trailblazers Task Force\n\n  \nAlready a member? DESCRIPTION:The Wellness Coalition Healthy Voices committee is a part of Champions for Change\, and focuses on bringing together a broad group of stakeholders and community members to create change in the local food systems. This group of people will come together to assess and recommend practices that affect one or more aspects of the food system in a specific area. DESCRIPTION:The Wellness Coalition Trusted Messengers committee is a part of Champions for Change\, and seeks to increase confidence in\, and uptake of\, adult vaccination. Trusted Messengers work to provide our community with access to accurate and updated information on the COVID-19 vaccine\, influenza\, routine vaccines\, and the process of acquiring vaccines. \nThe Trusted Messengers committee will consist of community health workers\, local leaders\, and community members who will receive training in the dissemination of accurate and up-to-date information on the benefits of receiving adult vaccinations\, including those for COVID-19\, influenza\, and routine vaccines. Additionally\, the committee is purposed with responding to and dispelling vaccination misinformation. \nTrusted Messengers will: \n\nPromote the benefits of receiving recommended vaccines\nProvide accurate and updated information to address misinformation\nShare opportunities to attend virtual vaccination briefings where the most up-to-date and verified information will be share\nShare opportunities to access vaccinations at vaccination clinics\nIdentify organizations that will benefit from hosting employee vaccination clinics via our partnerships with local vaccination providers\n\nSign Up to be a Trusted Messenger\n  \nAlready a member?
